As part of The French Inter-ministry Exchange and Coordination Platform on the Domestic Public Resources Mobilisation (MRIP), France has organised a webinar on Tax expenditures on Wednesday 30 September 2020 at 3:00 pm (Paris time, GMT+2). The CREDAF General Secretariat took part in this important webinar, organised by the Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development (FERDI).
In the context of the Covid-19 health crisis and due to its consequences on economic and social activities, developing countries affected by this pandemic have to face a decline of tax and customs revenues while being confronted to growing financial needs. In this respect, the evaluation of tax expenditures not only contributes to increase efficiency but also improves transparency in public finance management. Therefore, it seemed appropriate to update the issue of the evaluation of tax expenditures.
As a reminder, CREDAF has previously developed a methodological guide to help its members in the evaluation of tax expenditures. Published in 2015, this document is available online and now accessible to the public at large (https://credaf.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/2015_Evaluation_depenses_fiscales.pdf).
